For years, allegations have persisted that the Chinese Communist Party systematically murdered prisoners of conscience—individuals detained for their beliefs—to harvest organs for profit in the transplant tourism industry.
The 2024 documentary State Organs, directed by award-winning filmmaker Raymond Zhang, investigates this practice. It follows two Chinese families over two decades as they search for loved ones who vanished after detention. The film depicts what appears to be a state-sponsored forced organ harvesting operation targeting Falun Gong practitioners.
Falun Gong, a peaceful spiritual practice rooted in meditation and the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, became widespread across China in the 1990s. This growth prompted CCP leader Jiang Zemin to launch a persecution campaign in 1999. The documentary details how this initiative escalated into disappearances, torture, imprisonment, and live organ extraction to supply a profitable transplant market. Through family testimonies, eyewitness accounts—including from a military doctor—and mounting evidence, the film illustrates ongoing crimes against humanity.
The revelations have led to bomb threats targeting State Organs screenings and Shen Yun performances, which celebrate China’s pre-communist heritage. In Taiwan, shortly after the film’s October 2024 release, authorities documented at least 28 threatening emails demanding event cancellations. Similar hoax threats disrupted screenings in Australia and other countries. The Chinese Communist Party and its allies are reportedly determined to suppress narratives that expose their actions.
The documentary was released alongside Jan Jekielek’s new book Killed to Order. Jekielek, a Canadian journalist, bestselling author, filmmaker, and host of American Thought Leaders, examines China’s organ trade and its implications for human rights, medical ethics, and global security.
As Canada’s government considers renewed diplomatic and economic ties with Beijing—including discussions of a “new type of strategic partnership,” the timing raises critical questions about the regime’s alleged practices of industrialized organ harvesting.
